The Royal Oak Offshore ref. 26238ST.OO.2000ST.01 is a particularly interesting modern Offshore because it updates the classic 42mm “Beast” formula without losing the architecture that made the model distinctive. The stainless-steel case is paired with a blue Petite Tapisserie dial and matching blue chronograph accents, while the watch is fitted to an integrated stainless-steel bracelet.
What separates this reference from earlier Offshore chronographs is the in-house Calibre 4404, an automatic flyback chronograph movement that brings the Offshore into AP’s modern manufacture era. The movement is visible through a sapphire caseback, another important departure from many earlier Offshore references.
The interchangeable strap system is also significant. The steel bracelet can be swapped without tools for the accompanying rubber strap, giving this otherwise substantial chronograph a noticeably different character on the wrist. Combined with the revised dial and sapphire caseback, these details make the 26238ST a meaningful evolution of the original Offshore rather than simply another variation of the established design.
